    Voters are going to the polls this week for a local Republican party primary runoff for the May 28 election in Burnet County. Also, early voting is underway May 20-24.

    The runoff for two candidates for Burnet County tax assessor-collector are Susan Allen and DeAnne Fisher.

    Allen is the county chief deputy tax assessor-collector.

    “I have managed the Marble Falls office for 15 years,” Allen told The Highlander. “I have established great working relationships with law enforcement, government, schools, financial insti - tutions and dealerships. I have a great working relationship with employ- ees in the Burnet office.

    I always listen to people and make myself approachable. I will continue to serve with integrity, dedication, knowledge and fiscal responsibility."

    Fisher is the county deputy treasurer.

    “We need to evaluate what changes would make more services available and convenient for Burnet County residents, including extended hours and facilitating personal watercraft and boat registrations with the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department,” Fisher told The Highlander. “I will bring the level of professionalism and work ethic needed to create an office environment that not only meets, but exceeds the expectations of our community.”

    Also, the runoff includes one race between two candidates for Burnet County commissioner for precinct 3 – Chad Collier and Homer D. Will.

    Early voting is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 2024 in Burnet at the Texas AgriLife Extension auditorium, 607 N. Vandeveer. Also, early voting is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 20-24 in Marble Falls at the Texas Tech University building, 806 Steve Hawkins Parkway.

    The last day to receive a voted ballot by mail is 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 28 if the carrier envelope is not postmarked; or 5 p.m. May 29 if carrier envelope is postmarked by 7 p.m. at the location of the election on May 28, unless military or overseas voter deadlines apply.
