Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) hit back at former President Trump on Tuesday after Trump took issue with his recent appearance on Fox News.

Trump criticized Fox News for having the governor on Tuesday, saying on his Truth Social website that the network is making him “fight battles that I shouldn’t have to fight!”

“Take it from this small town guy: Donald Trump knows nothing about rural America,” Walz responded in a post on the social platform X. “That’s why he’s going to lose Minnesota. And Wisconsin. And Michigan. And Pennsylvania.”

While Trump claimed he is leading in Minnesota, recent polls showed him and President Biden neck and neck in the state, with polling also close in other Midwest swing states. There has not been new state polling since Vice President Harris joined the campaign.

Minnesota has voted for Democrats for decades in presidential races, though Trump has focused on flipping the state this November. Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), his vice presidential candidate, will campaign in Minneapolis this week.

In his Fox News appearance, Walz characterized Republicans as now “stuck” with Trump, in comparison to Democrats who have now moved on to Harris as their presumptive nominee.

“He’s yours, you’ve got him, welcome to it,” Walz said of Trump.

He also blasted Vance for criticizing Democrats’ change of candidate.

“JD Vance, mind your own business, is what I would tell them,” he said. “We’ll manage it.”
