Vice President Harris is leading former President Trump in the battleground state of Arizona, while Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) holds an 11-point lead over his GOP opponent Kari Lake in the state’s Senate race, according to new data.

The HighGround Public Affairs survey, released Thursday, found that Harris received 44.4 percent of the vote while Trump received 41.6 percent of the vote — which is within the survey’s margin of error. Arizona is seen as a key swing state for the election after President Biden narrowly carried the state in 2020.

About 8.8 percent of respondents did not know or refused to answer, while about 5.2 percent said they would support a different candidate in November.

“Now that the primary is over, things are starting to come into focus. As the newly minted Presidential nominee, Vice President Harris is starting off with a narrow but notable lead,” Chuck Coughlin, president and CEO of HighGround Inc, said in a statement. “It’s a good start, but with the attacks already starting, we expect some rough patches ahead.”

The poll also found that more Democrats said they would support Harris than Republicans said they would support Trump. About 86 percent of Democrats said they would back the vice president at the top of the ticket, while about 79 percent of Republicans said the same of the former president.

The poll showed Gallego pulling in 49.6 percent of the vote, while Lake received about 38.6 percent. About 9 percent said they did not know or refused while 2.6 percent said they would vote for another candidate.

The survey was conducted among 500 likely voters in Arizona from July 31 to Aug. 5. The margin of error is plus or minus 4.38 percentage points.

According to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s polling average in Arizona, Trump has a 2.2-point lead over Harris based on 10 polls. Gallego has a 5.9-point lead over Lake, according to the aggregate data.
