Second gentleman Doug Emhoff and Vice President Harris marked their 10th year of marriage on Thursday, the same day she will formally accept the Democratic presidential nomination at the party convention.

“Ten years of marriage, forever to go. Happy anniversary, @VP . I love you,” Emhoff wrote Thursday on social platform X , along with a photo slideshow of the second couple throughout the years.

Harris, also sharing a photo of her and Emhoff on X , wrote, “Happy anniversary, Dougie. I wouldn’t want to be on this journey with anyone but you.”

Emhoff met Harris on a blind date in 2013 , set up by a client of his, and were married one year later in 2014. In his speech at the Democratic National Convention Tuesday, he joked about how he called Harris for the first time at 8:30 a.m. and poked fun at himself for the first voicemail he left her. Emhoff noted Harris makes him listen to the voicemail every year on their anniversary.

He noted their Thursday anniversary in his speech and said he “knows he’s about to hear that embarrassing voicemail again,” while nodding to Harris’s expected nomination acceptance speech Thursday night.

“However, that’s not all I’ll be hearing. That same night, I’ll be hearing my wife, Kamala Harris, accept your nomination for president of the United States. And with your help, she will lead with joy and toughness, with compassion and conviction,” he said.

Emhoff, a lawyer, has two children from his first marriage, who have nicknamed Harris “Momala.” Emhoff, in his convention speech, reflected on how his family is now a “big, beautiful, blended family.”
