Trump’s latest attacks target Harris on immigration, crime

Former President Trump took to social media early Saturday to continue his attacks on Vice President Harris, targeting the vice president on immigration policies put in place under the Biden administration.

“Kamala Harris is the Weakest Presidential Candidate in History on Crime,” Trump posted to his Truth Social platform.

“She’s allowed millions of people to pour through our Borders, many from prisons, mental institutions and, indeed, terrorists, coming in at levels never seen before,” he added, claims that have not been substantiated.

The latest hits come as the Trump campaign has often criticized President Biden’s immigration policies and tried to paint Harris as the administration’s “failed border czar.” The term is in reference to the vice president’s work addressing the root causes of migration in the Northern Triangle region — El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.

Harris’s momentum has picked up in recent weeks, after she rose to the top of the ticket following Biden’s exit from the race. Since joining the fray, the vice president has broken fundraising records, soared in the polls, packed rallies across the country and secured key endorsements.

Earlier this week, Harris officially accepted the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination at the convention in Chicago. The former president has had to grapple with that enthusiasm, though he’s largely brushed off concerns.

Trump slammed Harris — who ran against Biden in 2020 — in his late-night rant, arguing that voters casted their primary ballots for Biden, not her.

“What gives her the right to run for President? She got no votes to Biden’s 14 Million,” the former president said. “She failed in her previous attempt, was the first one out of 22 people to quit, never made it to Iowa, and now she’s a Presidential Candidate?”

“This is a threat to Democracy!” he added.

In a separate post , the GOP nominee weighed in on the unusual circumstances of the race.

Trump, who was the incumbent during the 2020 race, said Harris’s campaign was attempting to deflect what he called “failures” of the Biden administration onto him.

“Kamala and her ‘handlers’ are trying to make it sound like I am the Incumbent President, so that they can blame me for the failure of the past four years,” he said. “No, it was their failure!”

“It is one of the worst Presidencies in History, and she is definitely the Worst Vice President,” he added.

The criticism comes as Republicans have pressed Trump to focus less on personal insults and more on policy with the election less than three months away.
