Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) poked fun at former President Trump’s debate performance Tuesday night, saying it might be time for the GOP nominee to have “those difficult conversations” about whether to proceed or drop out of the race.

Those were the discussions surrounding President Biden after his June debate with Trump. It led to Biden dropping out of the race and being replaced by Vice President Harris.

“If we are being honest, last night’s debate performance by former President Donald Trump was disastrous and hard to watch,” Moskowitz said Wednesday in a statement titled, “Trump’s ability to continue campaign.”

“I believe now is the time for the former President to have those difficult conversations about whether or not he should continue serving as the Republican Party’s nominee for President,” Moskowitz continued. “For now, I want to give him the space to meet with his family and make that decision.”

Throughout Tuesday night’s approximately 90-minute debate, Harris sought to bait Trump on a range of issues, including the size of his rallies and world leaders “laughing” at him.

Some House Republicans say she succeeded, while others have taken aim at the moderators, ABC News’s David Muir and Linsey Davis, saying they were unfair to Trump and should have asked tougher questions of Harris.

Early polls indicate Harris won the debate.

A CNN flash poll , conducted immediately after the debate, found 63 percent of voters thought Harris won, while 37 percent thought Trump won.

A YouGov poll conducted Wednesday morning shows 43 percent of those surveyed view Harris as the winner, while 28 percent view Trump as the winner. Another 30 percent say they are not sure.

The Hill has reached out to the Trump campaign for a response.
