Vice President Harris holds a comfortable lead in the presidential race in Virginia, according to a poll released Thursday from Emerson College/The Hill/WAVY-TV 10/WVBT FOX43.

Fifty-two percent of likely Virginia voters said they would vote for Harris if the election were held today, and 44 percent said the same about former President Trump. Four percent said they were either undecided or supporting someone else.

The latest polling marks a significant shift from the previous Emerson College poll of Virginia, which was conducted in July prior to President Biden exiting the race. That poll showed Trump leading Biden 45 percent to 43 percent, with 11 percent saying they were undecided.

“Trump’s support has not significantly shifted since Harris became the nominee in Virginia; instead, undecided voters have moved off the sidelines to back Kamala Harris,” said Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling.

The poll tracks with recent polling out of Virginia showing Harris leading Trump by a comfortable margin. A Washington Post-Schar School poll released earlier this month showed Harris leading Trump 50 percent to 42 percent in the state, while a Morning Consult poll released the same week showed Harris topping Trump 52 percent to 42 percent.

The Hill’s Decision Desk HQ average has Harris leading Trump by 5.9 points in Virginia.

Democrats are also performing well in the state’s Senate race. According to the Emerson College/The Hill poll, incumbent Sen. Tim Kaine (D) leads his Republican opponent Hung Cao by 10 points.

The Emerson College/The Hill/WAVY-TV 10/WVBT FOX43 poll was conducted Sept. 22-24 among 860 likely voters. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.3 percentage points.

If she does win Virginia it will be based off of the Divine Nine presence here, just voting off of face value.
