White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre gave remarks to the press Tuesday afternoon, as Iran began launching missiles toward Israel following the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon over the weekend.

It also came as the southeastern U.S. recovers in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. President Biden is also expected to visit North Carolina on Wednesday to view the damage from the storm firsthand.

On Monday, Biden ripped former President Trump , the Republican presidential nominee, for criticizing his administration’s response to the storm. The president will receive an update on response and recovery efforts later Tuesday afternoon.

Jean-Pierre, who will be joined by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, was scheduled to speak at 2 p.m. EDT.
