Hispanic women view Harris more positively than Hispanic men: Survey

Hispanic women view Vice President Harris more favorably than their male counterparts while holding more negative views of former President Trump, according to a new poll.

Roughly 6 in 10 Hispanic women have a “somewhat” or “favorable” view of Harris in an Associated Press-NORC Center poll released Friday, compared to 45 percent of Hispanic men.

Meanwhile, half of Hispanic women say they think Harris would make a good president, compared to 36 percent of Hispanic men who say the same, according to the poll.

Trump is underwater on the question of whether he would make a good president, with 59 percent of Hispanic women and a plurality of Hispanic men, 47 percent, saying he would not make a good leader in a second term.

The poll also shows Hispanic men are more likely than Hispanic women to see Trump as the candidate reflective of their views and more likely to view him as the tough candidate in the race.

Both the Trump and Harris campaigns have been focusing on outreach to Hispanic and Latino voters, with Harris recently releasing a bilingual ad in battleground states and the Trump campaign seeking to pitch Hispanic voters who are worried about the economy.

The AP-NORC poll shows that Hispanic voters say the economy is “one of the most important issues” in the upcoming election, followed by health care, crime and gun policy.

More Hispanic voters see themselves represented in Harris compared to Trump. About 4 in 10 Hispanics surveyed say Harris better represents their background in culture, while 25 percent say the same for Trump. Twenty-seven percent say neither candidate represents their background and culture.

The survey of 1,771 registered voters was conducted Sept. 12-16 and has a margin of error of 3.4 percentage points.
