OTTAWA COUNTY — With less than a month to go before Election Day, Ottawa County Clerk Justin Roebuck and his staff will participate in a handful of events to answer questions and inform voters about election operations.

The Ottawa County Clerk’s Office is partnering with Keep Our Republic, a national, non-partisan nonprofit, to host a pair of events in October.

"Elections Community Conversations" will be held Thursday, Oct. 10, in Grand Haven and Wednesday, Oct. 16, in Spring Lake. Both conversations will see Roebuck discuss recent changes in election law, and measures being taken to ensure a secure presidential election Nov. 5.

There will be a question-and-answer session for attendees following the presentations.

“The Ottawa County Elections Division wants to ensure voters know that when they go to the polls on Election Day — or participate in absentee or early in-person voting — that their vote is secure and properly processed,” Roebuck wrote in a release.

According to Keep Our Republic, misinformation about the election process has been “continuous” in Michigan and the conversations are designed to alleviate voters’ worries.

“Our goal ... is to clarify and debunk the election myths that may hinder voter confidence,” wrote Ari Mittleman, executive director of KOR. “We hope Ottawa County voters take the opportunity to attend one of these sessions to learn the intricacies that go into making elections safe and secure, and come out reassured about voting.”

    Event locations are:

    • Grand Haven: 6-7:30 p.m. in Program Room A of the Loutit District Library, 407 Columbus Ave.
    • Spring Lake: 6:30-8 p.m. in the Baird Program Room of the Spring Lake Library, 123 E. Exchange St.

Both events are free to attend. Registration is encouraged, but not required. To register, visit bit.ly/KeepOurRepublic_GrandHaven or bit.ly/KeepOurRepublic_SpringLake .

Roebuck and Robinson Township Deputy Clerk Jane Longstreet will also give a presentation at Hope College on Tuesday, Oct. 15, titled “Behind the Scenes with Election Officials."

The event begins at 7 p.m. in the Winants Auditorium at Graves Hall, 263 College Ave.

Justin is an upstanding/outstanding County clerk for all of us. Have you noticed not a single OI commissioner stands up for him when there a recount or other. As they don’t support anyone but themselves. Maybe have a special class for all our election denier commissioners. Although won’t show up as it would prove they are the liars.
