Peacock’s first official trailer for true crime docuseries Face to Face With Scott Peterson shares alternate theories on what could have led to the murder of his wife, Laci Peterson.

“The Los Angeles Innocence Project has come on board to help find all the things that were ignored by the Modesto Police Department,” says Peterson’s sister-in-law, Janey. One new piece of information is that there was a burglary next door. “The burglars may have abducted and killed Laci,” notes Peterson’s former defense attorney Lara Yeretsian. Bryan Spitulski, a former fire investigator for the Modesto PD, questions, “There’s blood on a mattress in a van. Why didn’t this get brought up?” Yeretsian believes this is “exonerating evidence” that should have required DNA testing.

Besides presenting the theories, the trailer also shows new footage from Peterson’s first on-camera interview since 2003. “Why should anyone want to hear your side of the story?,” asks director Shareen Anderson. “Because I didn’t kill my family,” responds Peterson during the on-camera call from prison.

The three-part docuseries shares a new look at the notorious case 20 years after Peterson was sentenced to life in prison for allegedly murdering his pregnant wife. Anderson, who also serves as co-executive producer, had been investigating the case for over a decade, examining the possibility that Scott may have been wrongfully convicted.

Besides the on-camera chat with Peterson, the series features conversations with former Modesto Police Department lead detective Al Brocchini, detective Jon Buehler and former ABC News producer Mike Gudgell, among others involved in the case.

Face to Face With Scott Peterson premieres on Tuesday, Aug. 20.

This isn’t the only docuseries on Peterson emerging for the 20th anniversary of his conviction. Netflix has also released its own series, American Murder: Laci Peterson , looking at the case from the point of view of those closest to Laci, including her mother and friends.
