A TV series based on Kimberly Belle’s thriller novel The Paris Widow is in the works.

The adaptation, unveiled on Wednesday, will kick off a first-look deal signed between producers Brittany A. Little and Larissa Bell and Little Bell Productions and Universal Television. The Paris Widow novel centers on a dream vacation that turns deadly when secrets from the past catch up to a married couple in Paris.

Little and Bell will executive produce the series adaptation alongside Talitha Watkins at ColorCreative, the production company she co-founded with Issa Rae and Deniese Davis. Novelist Belle will also produce.

Brittany A. Little and Larissa Bell said in a statement: “We are exhilarated to be embarking on this next chapter of our careers with Universal Television, a place that feels like home. As individuals, we have always been mission-driven and are excited to be joining forces to bring stories to life that celebrate the universal in the unique and tap into the broader human condition. The Paris Widow does exactly that with the thrills and romance that can only be found, as we have all seen recently, in the City of Light.”

As part of their first-look deal, Little and Bell will develop and produce projects with the Hollywood studio via their production banner for broadcast, streaming and cable platforms. Before Little Bell launched, Little served as vp of drama development at Universal Television, and Bell was a development executive for Amazon Studios.

“We’re so excited to reunite with the team at Little Bell. Brittany and Larissa’s creative instincts, business savvy and passion make them ideal partners for Universal Television,” Erin Underhill, president of Universal Television, added in a statement. “ The Paris Widow is a gripping and propulsive cat-and-mouse thriller and a perfect example of the compelling stories to come from this partnership.”
