Guillermo del Toro’s time filming Frankenstein in Aberdeen, Scotland, has been an interesting one, or should I say a spooky one.

The Oscar-winning filmmaker has been taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account this week to document his stay in what he called the “most haunted room” at his hotel. There have been so many “odd” occurrences that one of the film’s producers checked out of the room as soon as she could, however, del Toro wanted to take a turn in the room to see what all the fuss was about.

“Whilst in Aberdeen, I am staying in an old 1800’s hotel. i am in the Most Haunted room of it- which was vacated this morning by one of our producers,” he wrote on Thursday . “Odd electrical and physical occurrences scared her into leaving asap. Stay tuned- if anything happens I will report.”

The Shape of Water director added, “I always stay in ‘the most haunted rooms’ but only once did I experience anything supernatural- the rest of the time: nothing. I have high hopes.”

The following day, del Toro shared that while “nothing has happened yet,” the “atmosphere in the room is oppressive” and that “something is in that room with me.” The Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio director also noted that he hasn’t been sleeping in the room because he needs enough rest to “have a good shooting day,” but has been stopping by in the mornings and evenings.

“I am not gonna spend much more time there,” he posted on Wednesday . “It may be suggestion, but at this point I kept it but am sleeping in another room- I need 6 hours of sleep to have a good shooting day- Im stopping there early and late in the day- but something is in that room with me.”

In his latest update on Thursday, del Toro said he went into the room after filming wrapped for the day and felt “more than vibes” in the space. “There is something angry and territorial there. A shred of rage,” he wrote.

The Nightmare Alley helmer also shared a photo of something strange he saw in the mirror and said he was also trying to hear an EVP (electronic voice phenomena) on his phone.

Del Toro is currently filming for his upcoming Netflix movie, which is a new adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein . It stars Oscar Isaac as the scientist, Jacob Elordi as his monste r as well as Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz and Felix Kammerer.
