Warner Bros. Discovery Taps Shauna Spenley as Global CMO of Direct-to-Consumer

Warner Bros. Discovery has hired Shauna Spenley to lead its streaming marketing efforts.

Spenley will be global CMO of direct-to-consumer, succeeding Patrizio (Pato) Spagnoletto, who will leave WBD later in the fall. She will be tasked with leading all marketing, subscriber growth and retention, research and other key areas for WBD’s streaming products, including Max and Discovery+.

She will report to JB Perrette, CEO and president, global streaming and games.

“It is a privilege to be joining this phenomenal team. I have been a subscriber and fan of Max since its launch. Spenley most recently served as president of entertainment at Riot Games, an before that was a VP of marketing and publicity at Netflix.

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity WBD has given me and proud of the momentum we built around Max,” said Spagnoletto. “Though this is only the beginning chapter for Max, it is a good transition moment and I have full faith that Shauna and the incredible team here will succeed in making Max a top entertainment destination around the world.”
