The popular comedian and scathing celebrity roaster will host the 82nd annual Golden Globes in January.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Golden Globes,” Glaser wrote in a statement. “It’s one of my favorite nights of television and now I get a front row seat (actually, I think I have to host from the stage). The Golden Globes is not only a huge night for TV and film but also for comedy. It’s one of the few times that show business not only allows but encourages itself to be lovingly mocked (at least I hope so). (God I hope so.) It’s an exciting, yet challenging gig because it’s live, unpredictable and in front of Hollywood’s biggest stars (who also might be getting wasted while seated next to their recent exes).”
Glaser continued, “Some of my favorite jokes of all time have come from past Golden Globes opening monologues when Tina [Fey], Amy [Poehler] or Ricky [Gervais] have said exactly what we all didn’t know we desperately needed to hear. I just hope to continue in that time-honored tradition (that might also get me canceled). This is truly a dream job. Plus, I no longer have to feel guilty for every TV show and movie I’ve binged over the past year. It was all worth it. ( Below Deck: Sailing Yacht Season Four will be nominated, right?)”

Glaser seems like a savvy choice for the awards show. She has proved to be a whip-smart comedian across several stand-up specials, including earning an Emmy nomination for HBO’s Nikki Glaser: Someday You’ll Die this year). She was widely considered the best performer at Netflix’s The Roast of Tom Brady in May. Glaser’s killer and bawdy instincts should also help bring a sense of risky unpredictability to the show, which has felt more tame since Gervais stopped hosting after 2020. Also, the last two Globes hosts — Jo Koy and Jerrod Carmichael — received rather negative reviews. The show attempted a host-free format in 2022, which was also bashed. The last Globes host setup that was widely perceived as successful was in 2021 when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler co-hosted .

Glaser currently hosts and executive produces Lovers and Liars , a spinoff of the HBO Max and CW reality dating series FBoy Island , which she hosted and executive produced for three seasons. She has also hosted The Nikki Glaser Podcast since 2021.

The 82nd annual Golden Globes will air Sunday, Jan. 5, on CBS, and stream on Paramount+ for Paramount+ With Showtime subscribers.
Dick Clark Productions, which produces the Golden Globes, is owned by Penske Media Eldridge, a joint venture between Penske Media Corporation and Eldridge that also owns The Hollywood Reporter .
