The hosts of The View are making some corrections after their comments about Anna Delvey joining this upcoming season of ABC ‘s Dancing With the Stars .

During their Sept. 5 broadcast, the hosts of the talk show, which also airs on ABC, expressed their disappointment with the dance reality competition choosing to include Delvey (whose real name is Anna Sorokin) in the upcoming cast given her criminal charges and that she seemingly hasn’t owned up to her crimes.

Delvey is recognized as the convicted fraudster and fake German heiress who reportedly conned various elites in Manhattan into giving her hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash, goods and services. Her story was dramatized for Netflix’s Inventing Anna , which starred Julia Garner as Delvey and had Shonda Rhimes as its showrunner.

Delvey was released from prison in 2021 after serving four years but has since been on house arrest while fighting her deportation case. Delvey admitted she was granted permission from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to be a part of DWTS . She will also continue wearing her ankle monitor while competing.

“I think back to all the families who’ve had family members arrested by ICE, who have gone to the courts to get their dad, or their brother, or their mother back, and this woman, they gave her permission to go do this,” Goldberg said. “Now, should I think there’s a reason? Is there a two-tiered system here with ICE?”

“I like a come-up, but when are there consequences to people’s actions?” Sunny Hostin asked.

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin also noted that she’s while she’s in favor of a redemption story, Delvey seemingly hasn’t owned up to everything: “She still owes people money. Con artists tend to remain con artists.”

In response to their comments on social media, Delvey advised that the hosts needed to get their “facts straight.”

“While you are entitled to your own opinions, you should at least get your facts straight. I served my time and paid everyone back in full 3+ years ago. Looking forward to your on-air correction,” Delvey wrote in a response on The View‘ s X (formerly Twitter) page.

On Monday’s broadcast of The View, the hosts seemingly did just that after sharing that they were contacted by Delvey’s lawyer after their on-air discussion.

In a brief segment, Griffin read a statement directly into the camera.

“We recently discussed Anna Delvey, the convicted fraudster, noting she will be on Dancing With the Stars and questioning the fairness of her being on the show as it is an opportunity that most other convicted criminals and immigrants seeking asylum simply do not have. After that discussion, we heard from Ms. Delvey’s lawyer, who strongly objected to our saying that, quote, ‘She still owes people money.’ He argued that statement falsely suggests she still owes restitution to her fraud victims. And he provided a document from the Office of Victim Services that he says proves, quote, ‘All of Miss Delvey’s restitution has been repaid in full and all the victims have been fully compensated,’ end quote.”

Griffin then said, “We are all looking forward to the new season of Dancing With the Stars premiering tomorrow night right here on ABC.”

In response to the segment, Delvey’s attorney Duncan Levin in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, “We are thankful that The View has corrected their false and defamatory statements about Ms. Delvey. Like so many others, Anna has made mistakes and, most importantly, she has made amends by serving both time in prison and repaying all her debts in full. Anna deserves a second chance and accepts The View’ s apology.”
