    Elizabeth McGovern Joins Nicholas Denton in ‘Anne Rice’s The Talamasca’ for AMC

    Downton Abbey star Elizabeth McGovern has nabbed a lead role alongside Nicholas Denton in Anne Rice’s The Talamasca drama for AMC Networks.

    McGovern will play Helen in the third series of AMC’s Anne Rice Immortal Universe to bow on AMC and AMC+ in 2025. Joining the earlier two series Interview With The Vampire and Mayfair Witches, The Talamasca (working title) is described as a drama focused on the secretive society called The Talamasca that is featured in many of Rice’s novels.

    The six-episode season, which earlier cast Nicholas Denton as lead Guy Anatole, will focus on the men and women responsible for tracking and containing the witches, vampires and other creatures scattered around the globe. William Fichtner was also earlier announced to join the ensemble cast.

    McGovern will play Helen, a seasoned veteran of the Talamasca and the leader of its New York Motherhouse. She has long suspected that London’s Motherhouse has fallen under the influence of traitorous elements, and a mysterious death prompts her to recruit Guy Anatole as her protégé.

    Anne Rice’s The Talamasca , to shoot in the U.K., is executive produced by John Lee Hancock and Mark Lafferty, who also serve as co-showrunners, and Mark Johnson, who oversees the Anne Rice Immortal Universe. Hancock will also direct.

    The latest casting news for The Talamasca comes as Interview With the Vampire concluded its critically acclaimed second season , nabbing a quick season three renewal ahead of its finale. Interview was the first series in the AMC franchise. Mayfair Witches returns with its a second season in early 2025.

    McGovern is represented by UTA, Tavistock Wood Management and Anonymous Content.
