Nate Bargatze is bringing his comedy back to Netflix.

The streamer formally announced it has inked a two-special deal with the world’s top earning comic, whose last special made a major splash at Amazon Prime Video. The news comes as Bargatze continues to be in heavy demand across the entertainment landscape. In fact, in the last month alone, he’s hosted Saturday Night Live (for a second time) and announced an hour-long, holiday-themed CBS variety show , which is being produced by SNL ’s Lorne Michaels and his Broadway Video.

The first of his two new Netflix specials, which he’s titled Your Friend, Nate Bargatze , will drop on Dec. 24. It marks his third hour for the streamer — after a brief pivot to rival Amazon — and is being described as the PG comic bringing “his humor to discuss wanting a second dog, how much pizza to order for guys night, his wife being the responsible one.” The special is being directed by Ryan Polito, and executive produced by Bargatze, Alex Murray, Tim Sarkes and go-to producer John Irwin, whose John Irwin Entertainment is also the production company behind it.

Bargatze’s first solo hour for Netflix, The Tennessee Kid, premiered to raves in 2019. Some two years later, he released The Greatest Average American , which earned a Grammy nomination for best comedy album. In 2023, he jumped to Amazon, where Nate Bargatze: Hello World continues to hold the record as Amazon’s most-streamed original comedy special in its first month. Bargatze, who is currently on tour with new material, went on to break the attendance record at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Thus far this year, he’s already broken 20 more arena records. As THR previously reported , he’s now said to be getting recognition as a top-tier comic at Netflix, both in terms of compensation and boss Ted Sarandos’ attention.

It’s worth noting that Bargatze has been actively expanding his footprint beyond standup , too, unveiling Nateland Entertainment, his family friendly content company, in 2023. The company is expected to produce standup specials as well as scripted fare across film, TV, podcasts and music. While his outsized success is still relatively new, his efforts to parlay his brand of clean comedy into other arenas are not. A decade ago, he developed his act into an NBC sitcom with Jimmy Fallon’s help, only to have the network ultimately pass. The bond has nevertheless remained as Bargatze has made 13 appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon , the most by any comedian.
