Netflix has canceled its comedy series Unstable after two seasons.

The series, co-created by and starring Rob Lowe and his son John Owen Lowe, debuted its second season on Aug. 1. The show didn’t make the streamer’s internal top 10 rankings in the weeks following its release; the 10th-ranked show for its premiere week had 1.4 million views (hours viewed divided by running time). Unstable also didn’t show up in Nielsen’s streaming rankings for August.

The show’s first season, which premiered in March 2023, made one appearance in Netflix’s own rankings (which were determined by total viewing hours at that time) and two in the Nielsen streaming charts.

Unstable stars the elder Lowe as the extremely eccentric head of a biotechnology company and John Owen Lowe as his son, who joins the firm as a way to save both the business and his dad from spiraling out of control. The cast also includes Sian Clifford, Aaron Branch, Rachel Marsh and Emma Pilar Ferreira; Fred Armisen, Tom Allen, JT Parr, Lamorne Morris and Iris Apatow had recurring roles in season two.

The Lowes and Victor Fresco ( Better Off Ted, Santa Clarita Diet ) created Unstable , with Fresco serving as showrunner on the first season. Andrew Gurland took over as showrunner for season two, executive producing with Rob and John Owen Lowe and Sean Clements.

Rob Lowe also currently stars in 911: Lone Star at Fox, which is in its fifth and final season , and hosts the network’s game show The Floor .

Deadline first reported Unstable’ s cancellation.
