More violent offenders are being sentenced on camera today as Sir Keir Starmer warned those spreading misinformation online will have action taken against them.

Four offenders are due to have their sentences broadcasted at Leeds Crown Court, as fear of further far-right riots over the coming weekend continues.

Sameer Ali, 21, and Adnan Ghafoor, 31, were both jailed on live TV on Friday after they became embroiled in a street fight with far-right rioters in Leeds on August 3.

Later, Jordan Parlour, 28, of Brooklands Close, Leeds, will be sentenced on camera after being convicted of publishing written material intended to stir religious hatred.

The PM warned social media users should be “mindful” as several people have now been arrested or charged with social media-related offences.

At least a dozen people were jailed on Thursday for their part in the riots of the past 10 days. In the past week almost 600 arrests have been made and around 150 people charged in connection with violent disorder – with hundreds more suspects identified.
