Dozens of anti-racist rallies have been planned across the UK today as a Tory councillor’s wife is set to appear in court charged with stirring up racial hatred.

Up to 22 demonstrations are set to take place in towns and cities including Portsmouth, Newcastle, Manchester , Oxford and Cardiff.

Campaign group Stand up to Racism has also planned a rally outside Reform UK ’s political office as it accused Nigel Farage of “ inciting fascist rioters ”.

Lucy Connolly, 41, will appear in Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday charged with publishing written material to stir up racial hatred after she allegedly urged people to burn down hotels on social media.

So far, 741 people have been arrested for offences ranging from violent disorder to theft after far-right riots swept the country following a stabbing attack in Southport on 29 July.

Meanwhile, Boris Johnson has launched a scathing attack against prime minister Sir Keir Starmer over his handling of the far-right riots - claiming he was “deaf” to public concerns about immigration.
