    $$$$Perfect For:Classic Establishment

We usually reserve the word handsome for antique furniture or corgis in bow ties, but it’s a fitting description for Guido’s dining room. Along with dark wood ceilings, cherry-colored leather booths, and antique figurines on illuminated shelves, there’s a dramatic fireplace that’s definitely held a bubbling cauldron before. The place is like eating dinner at the Winchester Mystery House rather than a squat brick building off Bundy. Start with the Guido’s salad (their take on a chopped) then onto the Spaghetti Casa with plump shrimp in vodka sauce and a chocolate-drizzled tiramisu so good the ghosts who (probably) live here will want a bite.

Pretty good: You’ll likely be satisfied by a meal here, especially for a specific situation. These are handy back-up restaurants and beloved local spots.

    Carmine's

Carmine's is tavern-like Italian spot in Century City that's been around since the 70s. It's great escapism, even if the food is whatever.

    Cantalini's Salerno Beach

Cantanalini's Salerno Beach is pure old-school Italian nostalgia right on the beach in Playa Del Rey.
