Girls hoops earn 41-seed in state tournament

( Feb. 24, 2024 ) The girls basketball team earned the 41-seed in the Div. 4 state tournament and will travel to face 24-seed Uxbridge in the preliminary round.

The game is scheduled for Monday at 2 p.m. at Uxbridge High School.

The Whalers finished the regular season with a record of 12-8 to qualify for the postseason despite being ranked outside of the top 32. Nantucket won 11 of its final 13 games to turn things around after a 1-6 start, including an undefeated run through the Cape & Islands League Lighthouse division.

Uxbridge also enters the playoffs 12-8, and the two teams did not share any common opponents.

The winner of the preliminary round game will go on the road in the round of 32 to face nine-seed Millbury, who enters the tournament 13-7.
