Girls tennis sweeps D-Y 5-0

( May 7, 2024 ) The girls tennis team completed a clean sweep of Dennis-Yarmouth Monday, with the Whalers not losing a single game on the way to a 5-0 victory.

First singles Joan Harris, second singles Lily Chibnik, third singles Lauren Cutone, first doubles Hannah Gerardi and Chloe Marrero and second doubles Vicky Todorova and Presy Penkova all won their matches 6-0, 6-0.

“They’re all stepping up. They’re all playing as good as we’ve seen them,” coach Luke Thornewill said.

The Whalers have now won six of their past seven matches, improving their record to 6-2. Nantucket is scheduled to travel Wednesday to face Sturgis East, who the Whalers beat 3-2 for their first win of the season April 5.
