( May 20, 2024 ) The boys lacrosse team outscored Shrewsbury 10-1 over the final three quarters of play Saturday on the way to a 14-4 win for the Whalers.

Nantucket led 4-3 after the first quarter and scored four unanswered goals in the second quarter to take an 8-3 lead into halftime. As they’ve done for much of the season, the Whalers wore down their opposing defense as the game went on and scored six more goals

Jack Halik and Cole Chambers led the balanced offensive attack with four goals each. Six Whalers in total found the back of the net, with two goals by Arann Hanlon and Colby O’Keefe and one score each from Pat Carroll and Ryan Davis.

The Whalers, now 14-1 on the year, will carry a 12-game winning streak into the final week of the regular season. Nantucket’s scheduled home game Monday against Bishop Stang was postponed, with the Whalers’ next game now scheduled for Thursday at home against Old Rochester, who Nantucket beat 14-2 on the road last week.
