On August 11 at 2:06 PM, officers responded to a Walmart located at 9401 Liberia Avenue in Manassas to investigate a reported case of fraudulent returns. The investigation uncovered that a woman, later identified as Brenda Castillo-Samo, had conducted a fraudulent return before leaving the store. A man involved in a similar fraudulent activity was found by officers inside the store.

When officers attempted to engage with the man, he fled the scene and entered a vehicle driven by Castillo-Samo. As law enforcement attempted to stop the vehicle, Castillo-Samo continued driving, grazing one of the officers with the vehicle as she exited the parking lot. The officer sustained minor injuries in the incident.

In the course of the investigation, officers identified the driver as Brenda Castillo-Samo, a 20-year-old resident of the 8300 block of Georgian Court in Manassas. Authorities have issued warrants for her arrest on charges of attempted malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer, hit and run, and obtaining money by false pretenses. Despite efforts to locate her, Castillo-Samo remains at large.

Castillo-Samo is described as a Hispanic female, approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing around 120 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. The authorities have urged anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact local law enforcement. This incident underscores the risks law enforcement officers face while performing their duties and the importance of public cooperation in bringing suspects to justice.
