UAW willing to strike, Rowley design brand, mini golf, Endicott arrest

Without further ado, here's an update on negotiations between Cornell University and its workers vying for a new labor contract.

Union group fights for higher pay, “will strike if necessary"

Workers union and activist group United Automobile Workers and Ithaca’s Ivy-league Cornell University have been at odds since the early 1980s when the UAW local 2300 was formed.

Cornell’s Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer Christine Lovely announced Friday that “Despite the best efforts of the university, the parties have not yet reached a new agreement,” on its latest contract dispute with the group.

The UAW have agreed in a landslide vote to strike if necessary, according to the UAW International Union.

Favorite flavors this week: A calming spot of tea, honey soothe the soul, even in summer

I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather, so I’ve taken to some natural remedies, my favorite of which is a nice glass of tea.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a coffee drinker at times, but when I’m sick or feeling stuffy from allergies, nothing helps more than a glass of tea with some interesting infusions.

Bright Raven Farm & Apiary has a space at the Ithaca Farmers Market each week for good reason. Their Cardamom infused raw honey goes perfectly with some warm milk for a sweet little nightcap, or in some chamomile tea to calm the sinuses. I’m no doctor, but try it for yourself! It’s no substitute for your daily allergy med necessarily, but it certainly tastes better.

I haven’t reached their Honeybee Embassy in a while, but it makes a perfect pit stop for anyone interested in beekeeping, honey production, or a sweet treat. When weather allows, they offer guided honey tastings on Thursdays and Fridays.
