    Pair of 300-yard performances lead Jackson area boys athlete of the week for the week of Aug. 18-24

    The first week of the 2024 TSSAA football season is complete in the Jackson area.

    Several big stars turned in some big performances to open the Tennessee high school football season.

    Now, it’s the fans’ turn to vote for the Jackson area’s boys athlete of the week by using our poll below.

    Fans are able to vote once per hour, and the poll closes at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29.

    Daegan Collins, Bruceton: Collins rushed for 227 yards and four touchdowns in a 49-13 win over Stewart County.

    Ja'bari Livingston, Dyer County: Livingston rushed for 135 yards and four touchdowns on 16 carries in a 47-16 win over Dyersburg.

    Caydan Sanders, Haywood: Sanders went 24-of-33 for 264 yards and three touchdowns in a 44-14 win over PURE Academy.

    Gray Eubanks, Huntingdon: Eubanks had 286 rushing yards five touchdowns in a high-scoring loss to McKenzie.

    Jay'len Mosley, Jackson Christian: Mosley caught five passes for 120 yards and three touchdowns in the Eagles' victory over Northpoint Christian.

    Tate Surber, McKenzie: Surber threw for 374 yards and two touchdowns while running for three more in a dramatic 38-35 win over Huntingdon.

    Javonte Smith, North Side: Smith had a 100-yard interception return for a touchdown in a 36-34 loss to Crockett County.

    Corben Howard, USJ: Howard threw for 184 yards on 4-of-9 passing, two passing touchdowns and a 67-yard rushing TD in the Bruins' 42-20 win over Peabody.

    Aiden Reid, Union City: Reid led the Golden Tornadoes with 142 rushing yards on 23 carries with a touchdown in a 35-28 win over Murray (Kentucky).

    Jayden Milton, West Carroll: Milton ran for 232 rushing yards and three touchdowns in the War Eagles' 38-14 win over Gibson County.

    Graham Simpson, Westview: Simpson broke the Westview school single-game record, formerly held by his brother, Ty, with seven touchdown passes to go with 360 yards on 18-of-21 passing in a 64-0 win over Dresden.
