I spent my childhood reading voraciously and exploring the woods, two hobbies I still enjoy. I graduated from VCHS in 1997 and chose to remain here in the county through my time at Ohio University, where I earned my BA in History in 2001. I also commuted to my first year as a law student, then moved to the New Albany area for the remainder of my time at Capital University Law School, where I earned my JD in 2004.” Fetherolf continued, “2004 was an incredibly busy year for me, as I had my first child, passed the bar exam, and returned to Southeast Ohio. I settled in Laurelville to be near my extended family for help with my child and to start my professional life as an associate attorney with the Robert L. Lilley Co., LPA in Logan, where I concentrated primarily on real estate and general civil areas of practice.” <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> Fetherolf has extensive experience — “In 2008, I decided to pursue my dream of working in the criminal justice system and ran for prosecuting attorney in Hocking County,” Fetherolf said. “After prevailing over my opposition in both the primary and general elections, I took office in 2009, and served two terms in that position. During my tenure there, I handled cases from minor misdemeanors to death penalty cases. I am particularly proud of my work on the Inman murder cases, which resulted in convictions of all three defendants, two of whom were sentenced to life without parole.” Agree with Fetherolf — who doesn’t want to live in Vinton County, God’s country! “In 2016, my husband Matt and I decided it would be better to raise our family back home in Vinton County so I left office a few months before the end of my second term and returned here to raise our four children. I engaged in private practice until 2018 when I was offered a position as a magistrate at the Athens County Juvenile Court, where I am currently employed, primarily handling private custody matters.” <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> Hometown lawyer — “During my nearly 20 years in practice, I have handled a broad variety of legal issues, including some of the most important matters handled in the common pleas court-foreclosures, felonies, including capital murder cases, and custody matters.” This country editor loves Fetherolf’s biography — a love of family! “On a personal note, I have been married to my wonderful husband for nearly 15 years, and I am raising four great kids,” Fetherolf said. “Sam graduated from VCHS in 2022 and is now pursuing a BA in History at OU, with an eye toward law school in the future. Abbie graduated from VCHS in 2023 and is currently working full time, and Tim is a 2024 VCHS graduate and will be moving on campus at OU this fall after two years of taking classes there as a high school student.
