    Vinton County XC conquers at invitational

    Vinton County Vikings’ cross country team raced and paced to top times at the River Valley Invitational on Wednesday at River Valley High School.

    A big win for Alyssa Beckner — she won her first race of the season at the River Valley Invitational with a come from behind finish over the last half mile. Alyssa’s individual victory led the high school girls to a 2nd place finish.

    The high school boys earned a 3rd place team finish as Kellen Mullins lead the way with an 8th place individual finish.

    Naomi Boyd keeps her undefeated streak intact by leading the middle school girls to the team title. Naomi bested the 2nd place runner by 53 seconds in the two mile race.

    Both middle school boys ran phenomenal top 10 races as Elliott Douthitt placed 7th in 13:19 and Gavin Bobo placed 8th in 13:24.

    The high school teams race next at the Tiffin Carnival on Saturday.
