At Camp Courage, a bereavement program of UNC Health Johnston, children learn how to process and handle grief by taking part in crafts and fun group activities, such as playing the drums and navigating a corn maze. Above is a scene from last year’s camp. Photo by Brian Strickland.

SMITHFIELD — Know a child who’s experienced the death of someone they love?

Camp Courage, open to children ages 6-17, provides a supportive and safe environment to share feelings and gain a better understanding of the grief process.

This year’s camp is scheduled from 8 a.m. till 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Sonlight Farms, 293 Bunn Road, Kenly.

Through Aug. 14, participants may register online at johnstonhealth.org/campcourage. The camp is free to attend.

For more information, call camp organizer April Barbour Capps at 919-209-3478 or email her at April.Barbour-Capps@unchealth.unc.edu .
