Don’t have a photo ID? You’ll need one to vote this fall. The Johnston County Board of Elections can help.

SMITHFIELD — The Johnston County Board of Elections will host a Photo ID Day from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Kenly Public Library, 205 E. Edgerton St., Kenly.

Johnstonians without a driver’s license or other photo ID can have one made for free during the event.

North Carolina now requires voters to show a photo ID before casting their ballots. The Johnston-issued ID will have the voter’s name and photo. The ID will be good for 10 years.

For more information,  go to johnstonnc.com/joconcelections or call 919-989-5095.

To learn more about the new voter ID requirements, visit the N.C. State Board of Elections at ncsbe.gov/voting/voter-id#required.
