A woman has been sentenced after authorities said she chased her boyfriend in an SUV for 14 miles while he fled on a motorcycle, ran him over, and then dragged him 58 feet, leading to his death, according to Ohio officials.

A jury unanimously found 42-year-old Brooklyn Frazie of Portsmouth guilty of aggravated murder and 11 additional counts related to her role in the 2023 death of 44-year-old Darrell (Scott) Donahoe, according to an Aug. 19 news release from Scioto County Prosecutor Shane Tieman.

Frazie was sentenced to life in prison without parole eligibility for 34 years, officials said.

McClatchy News was unable to reach Frazie’s attorney for comment.

    The day of the chase

On Sept. 27, 2023, the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from the couple’s neighbor explaining that an argument turned into a car chase involving Frazie in an SUV and Donahoe on a motorcycle, officials said.

Numerous witnesses and surveillance footage confirmed Frazie chased after Donahoe at “high rates of speed” for 14 miles, Tieman said.

Witnesses told police they saw Frazie hit Donahoe from behind causing him to crash, according to Tieman.

Frazie continued to drive forward, dragging her boyfriend 58 feet under her vehicle before also backing over him, officials said.

Witnesses then intervened and were able to stop Frazie, according to officials.

Tieman said “a significant number” of good Samaritans tried to help Donahoe who was pinned under Frazie’s SUV, with some providing medical assistance and comfort, while others found jacks to lift the SUV off his body.

Body camera footage from officers on the scene shows Frazie denying that she intentionally tried to hit the man, saying Donahoe wrecked in front of her, according to officials.

Donahoe was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after, according to Tieman.

An autopsy showed he had 14 fractured ribs and severe liver lacerations causing internal bleeding, according to officials.

Blood analysis showed Frazie had methamphetamine in her system at the time of the incident, officials said.

According to Tieman, Frazie claimed during her testimony that she and Donahoe “were traveling to dinner” and she was speeding to catch up with him and “get his attention to let him know that his kickstand was down and dragging the ground.”

Portsmouth is about a 100-mile drive southeast from Cincinnati.
