    Possible explosive device found on abandoned property in Kansas City, Kansas

    A person doing a walkthrough of an abandoned home in Kansas City, Kansas, on Friday found what they said was a Claymore-type explosive device, a police spokesman said.

    The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s bomb disposal unit responded to the possible explosive found in a home in the 7200 block of Forest Drive , said Officer T.J. Thomasic with the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department .

    Members of the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives also responded to the home in the Quivira Hills Estates mobile home community .

    Police were unable to determine if the device was active. They removed the possible explosive and took it to a location where they investigated it further and disposed of it.

    Further details were not released.
