Chiefs fans could relate to Travis Kelce quietly watching football at U.S. Open

One unexpected benefit for the Chiefs players for starting the season with a game on a Thursday was they had the chance to do some fun things over the weekend.

For instance, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, the co-owner of the Kansas City Current, went to the U.S. Open men’s final in New York. They watched the match with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and girlfriend, Taylor Swift.

“It was awesome, man,” Mahomes said Monday on 96.5 The Fan. “The environment was amazing. ... It was cool to see some of the greatest going up against each other and have an American (Taylor Fritz) in the final. It was a great experience .”

While tennis (and Swift) were the main focus for Kelce, he may have squeezed in a little work at Flushing Meadows.

Did you see it? Kelce had his phone set up in a manner that made it clear he was watching something. The Chiefs’ next opponent, the Cincinnati Bengals were playing during the tennis match, so perhaps Kelce was watching that.

Or maybe he was glued to another game. Whether it was the Bengals or another team, fans had an inkling that Kelce was watching football at the U.S. Open, and many could relate.
