Domino’s is best known for its pizza, but a pasta option is returning to menus.

Starting Monday, Sept. 23, customers can order oven-baked mac and cheese at participating Domino’s locations nationwide, according to the Michigan-based pizza chain.

The dish is a revamped version of a mac and cheese that Domino’s retired in 2012.

Customers can pick from two varieties:

    • Five-cheese mac & cheese
    • Spicy buffalo mac & cheese

Both feature “penne pasta combined with a blend of cheddar, American, Parmesan-Asiago, mozzarella blend and Alfredo sauce,” according to a product description. The spicy buffalo version is drizzled with a buffalo hot sauce, offering a spicy kick.

It’s not the first time mac and cheese has appeared on menus, though it’s been “quite some time,” a Domino’s spokesperson told McClatchy News.

“Domino’s launched a completely different mac and cheese back in 2009, but discontinued it in 2012,” the spokesperson said.

For 99 cents extra, customers can add jalapenos and/or bacon, according to Domino’s.

The mac and cheese joins Domino’s other pasta offerings , including chicken alfredo, chicken carbonara and pasta primavera.

“Domino’s is continuing to innovate with intent and expand our menu with additions that cater to what our customers want,” Kate Trumbull, Domino’s senior vice president and chief brand officer, said in a news release.

    Pricing information wasn’t immediately available.
