A woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death at a Wisconsin apartment tried to make it seem like a suicide, police told news outlets.

Samantha J. Krebs , 39, was arrested Sept. 13 on a charge of intentional homicide, the Appleton Police Department recently announced.

Krebs’ arrest comes almost two months after the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend on July 18, according to WLUK.

According to investigators, friends who had been invited to come over walked into the apartment to find the man lying on the floor and Krebs, his girlfriend , also there, WLUK reported.

“I had four missed calls when I pulled into the parking lot from Samantha ... didn’t think much of it,” one of the witnesses told police, the station said. Instead of trying to turn the visitors away, Krebs buzzed them into the building.

“(He) was laying on the linoleum in the kitchen ... she looked me dead in the eye and she said, just tell the police he stabbed himself,” the witness said, the station reported.

Krebs soon left the apartment and the witnesses called 911, the Post Crescent reported, adding that officers arrived around 10 p.m. The man was given first aid, but he was declared dead before being taken to a hospital, the newspaper reported.

Appleton police located Krebs four days later, on July 22, outside a different apartment and took her into custody, according to the outlet. During a search of that apartment, investigators discovered a six-page letter thought to be written by Krebs, in which she paints a picture of her boyfriend as “delusional” and erratic, and also claims he threatened to fatally stab himself so it would look like she killed him, the Post Crescent reported, citing a police complaint.

However, coworkers of the man told police that Krebs had “repeatedly” threatened to stab him to death in the past, the paper reported. Also, about an hour before he was found dead, he had called another man and asked to tag along on a fishing trip in order to “get away” from Krebs for awhile, investigators said — then called back to say “he wasn’t going to be able to make it.”

After Krebs was taken into custody, she told an officer that her fiance recently died by suicide and that she had “found out” after reading about it in the news, WBAY reported.

But investigators say she contradicted herself moments later when she told officers “she had watched her fiancé kill himself,” the station reported.

Officials have not publicly identified the victim.

A hearing is scheduled for Krebs in Outagamie County court on Oct. 7, court records show.

Appleton is a roughly 30-mile drive southwest from Green Bay.
