The Chiefs found two key pieces of their offensive line in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Center Creed Humphrey, who was chosen in the second round, has made 54 starts for the Chiefs. Guard Trey Smith was picked in the sixth round out of Tennessee and has started 53 games.

In addition to being lined up next to each other on the field, the two are close friends away from the Chiefs facility.

In a video he shared on X, NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger talked about how well Smith and Humphrey work together on the field.

“It’s often said that the offensive line is a brotherhood, and it is a brotherhood,” Baldinger said. “But within the brotherhood, these two players, Creed Humphrey and Trey Smith, they got drafted together, they basically started and played every single game together. And when they play, they play like they know exactly what each other is doing. ...

“They’re always looking to help each other out. They’re inseparable. They study together. They go to work together. They hang out in the offseason. .... There’s no better combination of center and guard in the league than those two.”

    Here is that video .

The Chiefs linemen apparently made a bet on a game involving their alma maters on Saturday. Tennessee won 25-12 at Oklahoma, and Humphrey had to wear Volunteers colors in the Chiefs locker room.

Ditto for other former Sooners: Offensive tackle Wanya Morris and long snapper James Winchester.

Humphrey was none-too-happy and wrote on X: “What an awful color, made me throw up after putting it on.”

But, and this is the most important thing, it seems everyone had a good laugh.
