Update: The child has been safely reunited with his family, according to police.

Kansas City police are seeking the public’s help in finding the parents or guardians of a six-year-old boy found alone at a Kansas City grocery store.

The child was picked up by police after he walked alone into the Aldi at 39th Street and Prospect Avenue on Tuesday, carrying a grocery bag, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

The child’s name is believed to be Alexis. He is Hispanic and has black hair and brown eyes. He was found wearing a black sweatsuit over a black-and-white shirt with the Champion logo.

Alexis has been nonverbal since he was picked up, according to police, and officers believe he may have autism.

Residents who recognize this child are encouraged to call the KCPD Juvenile Section at 816-234-5150.

Hopefully he is not one of the thousands of unaccompanied minors let into this country by non parents.
