Beach-inspired clothing brand Tommy Bahama is expanding in the Kansas City metro.

The men and women’s lifestyle store — a favorite of the Kansas City Chiefs’ coach Andy Reid — is opening a location in Leawood’s Town Center Plaza at 4804 W. 119th St., Suite 860.

It will move into the former Coldwater Creek spot next to Barnes & Noble.

The location is set to open around late October or early November, according to the brand. It will be the company’s first store in Kansas.

Tommy Bahama has another spot on the Country Club Plaza at 324 W. 47th St.

Reid, known to wear Hawaiian shirts from the brand, has publicly praised Tommy Bahama many times over the years.

At a pre-Super Bowl press conference in 2023, Reid shared his three keys to life:

“Rock the Tommy Bahama, eat the cheeseburgers and be happy,” he said.

The brand has sent him products, including Chiefs Hawaiian shirts , as a thank you for his unofficial endorsement.

“It’s really been an amazing thing for us,” Tommy Bahama CEO Doug Wood told Forbes in 2020. “He just kind of took over as one of our spokespeople without us knowing he was the spokesperson.”

In 2020, the Chiefs landed at the Miami International Airport ahead of the Super Bowl wearing Hawaiian shirts in honor of their coach. (Although it’s unclear whether those were Tommy Bahama shirts.)

Tommy Bahama was founded in 1993 and is headquartered in Seattle.

It sells jeans, swimsuits, T-shirts, sportswear, home goods and more.
