A Missouri man told lottery officials he felt like something compelled him to choose the scratch-off that would ultimately reveal a huge prize.

“Something was telling me to ‘pick this ticket, ’” the winner told Missouri Lottery officials, according to an Oct. 2 news release.

The man scratched his “100X The Money” ticket in the parking lot of a Schnucks grocery store and realized it was a $50,000 winner, according to the release.

“I drove home and I told my wife that I had won, and she didn’t believe it at first,” the winner told lottery officials.

“She said, ‘Oh, no. You didn’t win that much,’” the winner recounted. “And I said, ‘Yes, I did!’”

The winner bought his $10 ticket at a Schnucks in Florissant, the release said.

Florissant is about a 20-mile drive northwest from St. Louis.
