Some high schools around Kansas City celebrated homecoming Friday, Oct. 4, and some of them saw their football teams collect big wins over rivals and others end undefeated streaks.

To do that, some got breakout performances from players at all positions. You can now decide which player had the best showing this past week .

The Star is holding a weekly poll for readers to vote on their favorite student-athlete. The poll will be posted online each Wednesday, with voting open until Thursday night. The winner is announced each Friday.

To put together the poll, The Star asks high school football coaches around the metro for their nominations and looks at statistics posted by schools on high school sports websites like 810 Varsity and MaxPreps . The Week 4 winner was Basehor-Linwood High School senior Garrett Pierce .
