    Celebrities, games, cars: Here’s your guide to Planet Anime Kansas City at Bartle Hall

    Fans of Japanese-style animation will descend on Bartle Hall this weekend for the second Planet Anime Kansas City .

    Among the attractions will be anime voice celebrities, artists, exhibitors, panels, cosplay, gaming and an anime screening room. There also will be an exhibition of cars called itasha that are decorated with images of characters from anime, manga or video games.

    The event is produced by Planet Promotions, which also puts on Planet Comicon Kansas City each spring at Bartle Hall.

    Here’s what you need to know if you plan to attend Planet Anime Kansas City.

    What are the hours?

    The event will run 1-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18; 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19; and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20.

    Where will it be held?

    Activities for Planet Anime Kansas City will take place throughout Bartle Hall , 301 W. 13th Street. The general admission entrance is through the 1500 Lobby on 14th Street between Central and Wyandotte.

    How much does it cost?

    Entry for adults will be $45 on Friday and Sunday and $50 on Saturday, with $75 for a weekend pass; children ages 6 and over are $10 daily or $20 for a weekend pass. Tickets, which include admission to the exhibit hall, panels, presentations and other activities, are available online and will be on sale during the convention.

    Where can I park?

    There are parking garages, surface lots and metered street parking throughout the area. Event parking rates might be in effect .

    Street closures

    Some roads around Bartle Hall will be closed from about 7 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday because of the Kansas City Marathon . Your best bet to get to Bartle Hall is to stick to the highways and Broadway Boulevard.

    Other things to know

    ▪ You should bring cash. Some vendors, artists and celebrities will not accept credit or debit cards.

    ▪ Costume props and weapons will be inspected upon entry to determine whether they present a risk to other attendees.

    ▪ Photography is prohibited on Celebrity Row without permission of the particular celebrity.
