Kansas City police determined there is no threat to the public after an hours-long search of Rockhurst University’s campus following a bomb threat Wednesday evening.

Officers were dispatched to the university at 1100 Rockhurst Road around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday on reports of a bomb threat, according to Capt. Jake Becchina, a KCPD spokesperson. Rockhurst Univeristy police were evacuating students from several buildings when KCPD arrived.

KCPD, along with Rockhurst University police, conducted an hours-long search and determined the campus to be safe.

KCPD’s explosive detection unit, as well as several K-9s, were called to participate in the investigation, Becchina said.

Access to the campus and surrounding streets was limited for students and faculty, as well as other pedestrians, while the search ensued Becchina said.
