A 3-year-old girl is the only survivor of a crash that killed two adults in Michigan, police told news outlets.

Police in Waterford Township say two women, ages 31 and 42, and the toddler were inside a 2019 Polaris RZR when they crashed at about 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, WJBK reported.

A Polaris RZR is a type of utility terrain vehicle (UTV), which is similar to an ATV but generally larger and partially enclosed.

The driver was speeding when the vehicle went off the road and crashed into a tree , police told WDIV.

One of the women, who was riding as a passenger, was thrown from the vehicle on impact, along with the child, according to police. The driver was trapped inside the UTV, the station reported.

The passenger died at a hospital, police say, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene, WWJ reported. However, the 3-year-old lived and is expected to make a full recovery.

According to police, nobody riding the off-road vehicle was wearing a seatbelt or restraints of any kind, the outlet reported.

Waterford is a roughly 30-mile drive northwest from downtown Detroit.
