The Triton/Kenyon-Wanamingo/Hayfield girls soccer team had fairly positive results this past week, picking up a 1-1 tie against Cannon Falls on Tuesday and beating Tri-City United 2-0 on Friday. The co-op team finds itself at 1-1-1 on the year, bouncing back from a season opening 7-0 loss to Caledonia.

The win marks an improvement over last season’s squad which opened the season 0-3-1, picking up its only win of the year in the Section 2A play-in game.

On Tuesday it was Romina Medina picking up the only goal of the game for her team while Haylie Budahn was credited with the assist in the home opener.

Traveling on the road to Tri-City United, both goals came in the opening half with Medina picking up her second tally of the year while Ryann Heimer recorded a goal and an assist on Medina’s goal. Alyssa Knudson made 16 saves on the day in goal to continue her steady work as the last line of defense.

The team will play again this Thursday against Mankato Loyola on the road with a 4:30 start time. That game is the only of the week before returning home to play Kings United the following Monday.
