Kenyon-Wanamingo volleyball finished off a fairly slow week with two victories, losing only one set in the process as the Knights knocked off Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton and Stewartville 3-0 and 3-1.
Last Tuesday’s win over JWP was a straightforward affair after a competitive first set the Knights won 26-24. K-W went on to win the second and third sets 25-18 and 25-16 to close out the night for the three-set sweep.
It was most of the usual suspects that night as Audrey Haugen racked up 11 kills and Mali Quam added nine of her own. The duo of Addy Lindell and Anna Ostertag combined for 14 kills of their own while Carmen Nerison led the team with 29 set assists and 16 digs. Emilie Jarvis also helped on the defensive end with 14 digs of her own. The Knights totaled five blocks on the night as well.
Moving ahead to last Thursday, it was a bit more competitive out of the gates as Stewartville won the opening set 25-16 before losing the following three sets 25-16, 25-13 and 25-15 as the Knights dominated the action.
Quam had 15 kills and 20 digs while Nerison added 15 digs and 34 set assists to her season totals. Haugen was strong around the net with eight kills while Lindell and Ostertag combined for 14 of their own. Jarvis also chipped in alongside Eva Jacobson for 33 digs as well.
The Knights will pick up a busy week of action on Tuesday as they travel to face NRHEG before returning home to host Randolph on Friday for the final home match of the regular season. Next Monday and Tuesday will mark the final two matches of the regular season slate, traveling to Zumbrota-Mazeppa and Triton on back-to-back nights with section playoffs set to begin not long thereafter.
