    Classic Fried Chicken Recipe

    Ingredients:

    • 4-6 chicken pieces (legs, thighs, breasts, wings)
    • 2 cups buttermilk
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tsp paprika
    • 1 tsp garlic powder
    • 1 tsp onion powder
    • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • Vegetable oil for frying

    Instructions:

    1. Marinate the Chicken:
      • In a large bowl, add the chicken pieces and pour the buttermilk over them. Season the buttermilk with a little salt and pepper.
      • Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight for maximum flavor and tenderness.
    2. Prepare the Coating:
      • In a large shallow dish, mix together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
    3. Coat the Chicken:
      • Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and let any excess liquid drip off.
      • Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour mixture, making sure it's thoroughly coated. Press the flour onto the chicken to form a good crust. Let the coated chicken rest for 10 minutes before frying.
    4. Fry the Chicken:
      • In a large, heavy-bottomed skillet or deep fryer, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
      • Carefully place the chicken pieces into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry in batches if necessary.
      • Fry for about 10-15 minutes on each side, depending on the size of the pieces, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
    5. Drain and Serve:
      • Remove the fried chicken from the oil and place it on a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil.
      • Serve hot and enjoy!

Feel free to serve this fried chicken with your favorite sides like mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or biscuits!
