Smoke on the Water returns to Hammondsport with barbecue competition, trivia. What to know

Seventeen competitors will take part in a barbecue competition Saturday at the 13th annual Smoke on the Water event at the Hammondsport Volunteer Fire Department.

The barbecue competition will kick off at noon Saturday and run until 5 p.m., according to the Hammondsport Fire Department.

The barbecue tasting options will be:

• 1 p.m. Chicken

• 2 p.m. Pork

• 3 p.m. Mystery

• 4 p.m. Brisket

The cost is $20 per person to taste, officials said. Other offerings at the event, geared to support local fire department, will include music, food, such as Italian sausage and burgers and 15 vendors.

Team trivia will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Hammondsport Volunteer Fire Department, officials said. The cost is $5 per person.
