    High school football roundup: Wapak tops St. John's Jesuit

    Caleb Moyer’s third touchdown run of the night in the fourth quarter sealed the host Redskins’ 35-21 victory over St. John’s Jesuit.

    Wapakoneta jumped out to a 21-0 lead with three first-quarter touchdowns. St. John’s rallied with a 1-yard touchdown run by Carson Pawlowicz and a 26-yard scoring pass from Coy Hamic to Karter Washington to make it an eight-point game at halftime.

    After Moyer scored on a 1-yard run in the third, Pawlowicz connected with Washington in the fourth on a 45-yard touchdown pass to make it a seven-point game prior to Moyer’s game-capping score.

    Moyer completed 11 of 17 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns, adding 54 yards and three touchdowns on the ground on 16 carries. Kaden Page caught six passes for 107 yards and a score for Wapakoneta.

    Washington had 107 receiving yards on nine catches for St. John’s.

    Coldwater 38, Germantown Valley View 0

    Baylen Blockberger went 10-of-12 on passes for 163 yards and four touchdowns.

    Braxton Taylor rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown on nine carries for the Cavaliers.

    Cory-Rawson 29, Arcadia 22

    Cory-Rawson picked up its first week 1 victory since 2010.

    Hunter Niese caught, threw and ran for a touchdown. He also had a two-point conversion.

    Carson Reese threw two touchdowns. Mason Hall and Colin Sons each had one touchdown reception.

    Elida 40, Tol. Rogers 0

    Elida scored 28 points in the first half of a runaway victory.

    Quarterback Ryan McGue found Amari Wash twice for touchdowns, one from 20 yards out and the other from 16. McGue also ran for a score.

    Cameron Kaufman found the endzone twice, including a 26-yard run.

    Liberty-Benton 35, Ottawa-Glandorf 6

    Trevin Lieb finished with 244 yards passing with a pair of touchdowns for Liberty-Benton. Seth Elchert caught both of those touchdowns en route to a 5-catch, 106-yard performance.

    Fort Recovery 20, Wayne Trace 6

    Fort Recovery’s Reece Wendel rushed for 155 yards on 22 carries and a touchdown.

    Wayne Trace’s lone score came on a fourth-quarter pass from Cole Morehead to Tyler Head. Morehead finished the night 16-of-24 for 152 yards and one touchdown.

    Allen East 46, Tol. Scott 12

    Allen East scored all 46 of its points in the first half.

    Jackson Thompson went 10-for-16 through the air for 142 yards and three touchdowns with 37 yards rushing.

    Ethan Hershberger scored on a 70-yard interception return and a 55-yard kickoff return.

    Jacob Pinks, Camden Smith and Hunter Nickles each caught a touchdown pass. Nickles was the leading receiver with 69 yards on four receptions.

    Perry 33, New Lebanon Dixie 3

    Isaiah McFadden had 212 yards rushing and four touchdowns for Perry.

    Lake 34, Leipsic 22

    Marc Kirkendall went 14-of-22 through the air for 186 yards and a touchdown in Leipsic’s season-opening loss.

    Jayce Brecht caught seven balls for 122 yards and a touchdown. Ty Lammers and Quinn Westhoven both ran for a score.

    Crestview 49, Parkway 7

    Braxton Leeth rushed for 128 yards and five touchdowns on 20 carries in Crestview’s dominant win.

    Quarterback Bryson Penix finished the game 12-of-17 for 171 yards and one touchdown.

    Van Wert 48, Bryan 8

    Briston Wise accounted for six touchdowns, four on the ground and two through the air in Van Wert’s runaway victory.

    Wise hit Keaten Welch and Micah Cowan for his two passing touchdowns and the Cougars racked up 510 yards of total offense.

    Spencerville 29, Ridgemont 19

    Spencerville’s Grady Smith ran for 131 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
